About Us
We limit our breedings/litters to a few a year, we space the time between litters so that we can give the love and attention to each individual puppy that they deserve. We do not have too many puppies at one time, in order to do so. We raise these wonderful dogs because we love the breed, and we want you to have a wonderful experience with this breed.
We are located on a beautiful Lake between Jacksonville and Gainesville Florida. All of our cairns enjoy time in our home although they prefer to be with their buds in the kennel. The puppies are never kenneled. They are always in our home with their Mom and our family.
Jim and I strive to produce the best quality Cairns and to maintain the good reputation that we have established through the years. We have visited many breeders while picking our Cairns and we cannot tell you the many times that we have walked away disappointed in the conditions in which they live. This only pushed us to strive for better than the average breeder and gave us reasons not to let our pups go to breeders, pet shops, or puppy mills, as we found out first hand how most of them are. Though we cannot control what is out there, we can certainly control the placement for our pups. This is why we only allow our pups placed in a family environment, and especially with children, where they will be in a pet friendly family home, or in a home to where THEY are the only child. So, whether you get a Cairn from us or elsewhere, PLEASE, for your sake as well as the puppy’s, check out the breeder you decide on, and get references from previous litters new puppy families. We will be happy to share with you e-mails from our happy new puppy parents and you are welcome to contact them.
We both have worked in the Health Care Industry for many years, with me now being retired as Director of Business Operations for the local hospital, and being fortunate enough to now be with our furry grandchildren 24/7. Jim is retired through the state and now working towards retirement in security for our local hospital. We were very involved in “Pet Therapy” programs for patients and residents of Children's Hospitals and Nursing Homes (be sure and see the pictures on the "Pet therapy" pages. When we put our Cairns in the programs we had many requests for puppies. So we started our own kennel about nine years ago. We immediately fell in love with the experience of having babies around as we have no grandchildren. Our pups became our grandchildren.
Jim and I together have 7 human children, he has 5 grown children and I have 2. My youngest graduated high school this past year, and now works for Atlantic Southeast Airlines. He will return to school later, and plans to make a career with the airlines in the computer area. I will be going through "empty nest syndrome" soon. :(:(. The human kids have all opted to pursue their careers and do not have giving us grandchildren on the mind yet. Jim's eldest is an aeronatical engineer with Lockheed , and my youngest was an eagle scout at only 14 yrs old, as well as the youngest to achieve that title in our county, so all of our children have done well and are good kids, and Jim and I are very proud of each and every one of them. In the meantime our pups will remain being our little furry grandchildren.
We have a mountain home up in Hayesville, Nc., and we enjoy getting away and spending time up there when we have no puppies. We rent the home up there out for vacation rental, and we give our puppy families a 50.00 weekly discount. So if you are interested, let us know and we will give you information on it. You can also copy and paste this link to your browser and it will take you to the mountain home website.... www.mountainhideawaync.com
The tune playing on this page as you view this is our song..."unchained melody", This was our first dance tune at our wedding a little more than 9 years ago. Jim and I made a pact that no matter where we are or what we are doing, we will dance to this song whenever we hear it !,,,you should see us dancing at Wal-Mart on isle 4 or wherever we may be in Wal-Mart or wherever when this tune comes on ! and you should see the looks and smiles we get also. I know, we are silly, but we are still silly in love.
